1Password is a completely bootstrapped company that’s never taken a dime of outside investment, so this announcement may surprise some of you. We’ve built the most-loved password manager and a world-class company, all while remaining profitable during our entire history. So why, after 14 years of self-funding, are we now partnering with Accel? This investment marks a major milestone for both 1Password and Accel. This is 1Password’s first investment after 14 years of tremendous growth. Like other bootstrapped companies outside Silicon Valley that we've partnered with, including Atlassian, Tenable, and Qualtrics, 1Password has been profitable since day one. Jack Larson joined Accel in 2017 and focuses on enterprise and mobile technology companies. Jack helped source and lead Accel's investments in 1Password, Ada, Eagle Eye Networks, Miro, and RiskRecon. Prior to Accel, Jack worked at Goldman Sachs in the technology, media, and telecommunications investment banking group.
